UAE-India Healthcare Conference 2020, 19 October 2020

Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of India, Dubai in association with FICCI and Invest India will host the virtual ‘UAE-India Healthcare Conference 2020’ on October 19, 2020. This conference will be a significant platform for deliberations on collaboration and exploring ways and means for the two health systems to engage more deeply. Policy makers, CEOs, eminent leaders from healthcare and allied industries both from the public and private sector from the two nations will exchange ideas on exploring new avenues for partnership as India and UAE work towards delivering accessible, affordable and world class healthcare to their peoples. The pandemic has highlighted the need for deeper engagement between health systems as we live in an increasingly inter-dependent and connected world where people travel and work in multiple geographies. 

H.E. Pavan Kapoor, Ambassador of India to UAE, stated “I look forward to fruitful exchanges with UAE authorities on enhancing bilateral healthcare cooperation during the forthcoming UAE-India Healthcare Conference on 19th Oct, 2020. Our close cooperation during this ongoing pandemic encouraged us to proceed with this event.”
The healthcare ecosystem in the UAE is one of the most developed among the GCC nations and the government continues to expand and upgrade the system to match international standards with focus on encouraging innovations and technological developments.

India’s flagship project, Ayushman Bharat: Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), is the world’s largest government-sponsored health insurance scheme, designed to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The National Health Authority (NHA), India  has been entrusted with the role of designing strategy, building technological infrastructure and implementation of “National Digital Health Mission”. CEO of National Health Authority of India, Dr. Indu Bhushan said, "I look forward to participating in UAE India Healthcare Conference 2020 with much excitement. I believe there are multiple learning avenues that exist between both countries to collaborate. Going forward, I can see India and UAE working closely to shape a more efficient healthcare system. India is swiftly moving towards the implementation of Universal Health Coverage."

Ambassador of UAE to India, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Albanna who would be addressing the Conference commented: “In the wake of the COVID – 19 pandemic situation, the new dimension of ‘medical diplomacy’ has further bolstered the strategic partnership between UAE and India. The defining principles, which brought the two countries closer than ever before were ‘collective leadership’ and ‘coordinated actions’. It is my firm belief that this multifaceted and time tested partnership is poised to lead the world by example in the post – COVID era”.

India and UAE have historic trade ties, with focus on key sectors like energy, construction, food & agricultural products, IT, aviation and SMEs etc. This Conference will explore the possibilities of deeper cooperation in the healthcare sector. In this sector, India attracted US$25.36 Bn in Foreign Direct Investments from April 2000 to March 2020 with top investors being USA, France, UK and UAE. 
Director General of Dubai Health Authority, H.E. Humaid Al Qutami will be delivering the Keynote Address at the Conference. Highlighting the long-standing relationship between the two countries in several fields including the health sector, he said: "DHA is keen to collaborate with global health institutions to foster knowledge-transfer and provide high-quality care to patients and that this unique webinar will provide an opportunity for the two countries to explore collaboration in key healthcare areas with an aim to further enhance healthcare delivery and efficiency."

Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group & President, FICCI who will be addressing the meet said: “On behalf of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), I congratulate the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, UAE and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, UAE on jointly holding the “UAE-India Healthcare Conference-2020” and would like to sincerely thank the UAE government leadership for supporting this initiative to further enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of Healthcare. H.E. Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India to Dubai remarked that “This Conference is aimed at catalysing partnerships between healthcare organizations of UAE and India, both in the public and private sectors. It falls in line with the objectives of the Governments of India and UAE, and the shared vision of the leadership of both countries, to provide world-class healthcare services and best possible support to people during the pandemic, and going ahead in a post-covid scenario. Partnership between UAE and India can be a building block of India’s deeper engagement in this region.”

Chairman, Sharjah Health Authority, H.E. Abdulla Ali Al Mahyan and H.E. Dr. Hussain Alrand, Assistant Undersecretary and Chairman of UAE Pandemic Committee, MoHAP, Abu Dhabi will be sharing their unique insights at the conference.

Mr. Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Managing Director, Dubai Science Park and Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman – Waterfalls, UAE will share opportunities for partnership for healthcare organizations in India. Other distinguished experts from the private healthcare sector such as Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and MD, Aster DM Healthcare; Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder Chairman & MD, VPS Healthcare; Mr. Taher Shams, MD, Zulekha Hospital Group; Ms. Sophiya Faizal,Director, KEF Holdings will be speaking on UAE-India healthcare partnerships, and share their experience of running healthcare projects in UAE and in India.

Dr. Praveen Gedam, Addl. Chief Executive Officer,
National Health Authority of India will share his insights on the National Digital Health Mission. The Conference will cover topics on healthcare delivery, pharma, medical devices and AYUSH: The Indian Traditional Science of Medicine.
