Visit of High Level Indian Delegation led by Smt. Harsimrat Kaur, Hon’ble Minister , MoFPI for participation in Gulf Food 2020

A high level Indian delegation led by Hon’ble Minister for Food Processing Industries, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, visited Dubai from 16-18 February, 2020 for Gulfood 2020. Hon’ble Minister inaugurated the at Gulfood 2020 on 16 February 2020. India Pavilion was represented at Gulfood 2020 with APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), Tea Board India, Coffee Board India, Coconut Board of India & Cashew export promotion council. Around 300 Indian companies were a part of the India Pavilion.

Hon’ble Minister met with select business organizations in the food processing and retail industry in UAE during her visit. She held one on one meetings with Emaar, Sharaf Group, Essa Al Ghurair Investments, Al Maya Group, Lulu Group, Hakan Agro DMCC, Arab India Spices, Phoenix Group, Al Adil Group, Aujan Group, Amul, IFFCO etc.

Consulate organized a business roundtable on 17th February on opportunities in the food processing sector in India where the Hon'ble Minister, Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal addressed the gathering. More than 50 prominent business groups, traders and investors participated in the roundtable.

Hon’ble Minister also met with the UAE Minister of State for Food Security, Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mheiri on 17th February on the sidelines of Gulfood 2020. They discussed UAE investments in food corridors in India in accordance with the vision given by the top leadership of the two countries.

Visit of Hon’ble Minister of Road & Transport & Highways, Govt. of India

Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road & Transport & Highways, India was on a transit visit on 16th February, 2020. He attended Gulfood 2020 at DWTC during his visit and interacted with the exhibitors at the India Pavilion.

Visit of delegation from Ministry of Civil Aviation, India

In connection with the next edition of Wings India 2020 a delegation led by Mr Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary , Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India visited Dubai from 15-17 February, 2020. The Secretary met Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and extended an invitation to him for Wings India 2020. They also discussed ways and means of enhancing the strategic partnership between India and UAE particularly in the aviation sector. The Secretary also held meetings with the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and senior management of Emirates Airlines and Flydubai.

Visit of IFS Trainees to Dubai

A team of 10 trainee diplomats from India and Bhutan were on a familiarization visit to Dubai on 6–7 February, 2020. The trainee diplomats had a briefing session with the Consul General and all the Consuls. They visited the Federal National Council of UAE and met with Secretary General H.E. DR. Omar Al Nuaimi. The Consulate also facilitated a tour and an interactive session with Jebel Ali Port & Freezone (DP World) for the visiting diplomats on 6th February.

Intersec 2020

India Trade Promotion Organization organized India's participation in Intersec 2020 which was held from January 19 - 21, 2020 at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, UAE. India Pavilion was organised with 21 companies from India. Wide range of monitoring systems, surveillance, CCTV, DVR, video management & analytics, access/entrance control, perimeter protection systems, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), fire safety equipments, environmental protection at work and wearable security/smart clothing etc. were displayed by the participating companies. Consul General inaugurated the India Pavilion on 19th January and interacted with the Indian exhibitors.

Arab Health 2020

EEPC India and Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) organized the India Pavilion at Arab Health 2020 from 27th to 30th Jan, 2020 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, UAE. Over 100 Indian companies from the pharmaceuticals industry, medical devices, healthcare & pharma machinery sector exhibited at the event. Consul General inaugurated the India Pavilion on 27th January.

GITEX 2019

Consul (Commerce) inaugurated the NASSCOM pavilion for GITEX 2019 at Dubai World Trade Centre on 06.10.19. NASSCOM participated for the 3rd consecutive year with an intent to perpetuate the growth of Indian SMEs and catalyze mutually benefitting alliances between the Indian and Middle East organizations. SME council at NASSCOM brought a delegation of 30 companies who showcased their solutions and offerings at the pavilion.

Gulfood Manufacturing 2019

Spices Board of India participated in Gulfood Manufacturing 2019 at Dubai World Trade Centre from 29th to 31st October, 2019. Around 12 Indian companies participated in the event through Spices Board. Overall Indian participation was of 100 plus companies who came through their individual capacity. Consul (Economic) attended the event and met with the various Indian exhibitors.

INDEX Exhibition

More than 30 Indian companies working in the handicrafts and carpet industry participated at INDEX exhibition held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 17th to 19th September, 2019. The India pavilion was jointly organized and coordinated by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC). Consul General visited the India pavilion on 17th September and interacted with the exhibitors.

Automechanika Dubai 2019

EEPC India and ACMA with the support of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India organized the India Pavilion at Automechanika Dubai 2019 from 10 -12 June. Automechanika is the largest international trade exhibition for the automotive service and aftermarket industry in the Middle Eastern region. A delegation of about 100 Indian companies participated under the umbrella of India Pavilion. Consul General inaugurated the India Pavilion on 10th June, 2019 and interacted with the participants.

Beautyworld Middle East 2019

India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) along with CHEMEXCIL organized India’s participation at Beautyworld Middle East during April 15-17, 2019 at Dubai World Trade Centre. 10 companies each from ITPO and CHEMEXCIL were a part of the India pavilion. Consul General inaugurated the India pavilion on 15th April.

Arabian Travel Market 2019 (ATM)

More than 20 exhibitors from India representing the state tourism department of Kerala, Air India, IRCTC, travel agents, hoteliers/resorts, wellness spas and ayurveda centres were a part of the India pavilion at ATM. The India pavilion was coordinated by India Tourism and the event was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 28th April to 1stMay, 2019. Consul General inaugurated the India pavilion on 28th April and also was present for a press conference hosted on the same day at the venue.

Middle East Electricity (MEE 2019)
EEPC India organized the India Pavilion at Middle East Electricity Show – 2019 edition which took place during 5th to 7th March, 2019 at Dubai World Trade Center. MEE is the leading international trade event for power and electrical industry with dedicated product sectors for power generation, transmission & distribution, lighting, solar, energy storage & management solutions in the GCC region. The event offers its exhibitors access to thousands of potential customers from across the Middle East, Africa (MEA) and the rest of the world. A delegation of about 30 Indian companies participated under the umbrella of India Pavilion. Consul General inaugurated the India pavilion on 5th March. Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) in association with EEPC India organized a networking session on ’Doing Business with India’ on 6th March at the venue. Consul Commerce was one of the speakers at the session and gave a presentation on the said topic of discussion.

Vibrant Terry Towel Roadshow
In line with the Vibrant Terry Towel Global Expo & Summit 2019 to be held in Solapur from 25-27 Sept 2019 a roadshow was held at the Consulate auditorium on 9 Feb 2019. During the roadshow strengths of the home textile industry of Maharashtra was showcased. Information on the Maharashtra economy and home textile/terry towel sector of Solapur was also shared with the attendees. Consul Economic attended the roadshow and also addressed the audience.

Close to 300 Indian companies participated in Gulfood which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 17-21 Feb, 2019. The companies came through APEDA, Tea Board India, Coffee Board of India and Cashew Export Promotion Council of India. A seminar was also held for the Indian food exporters at the Consulate auditorium on 20 Feb in the evening. Officials from Dubai Municipality gave a presentation and intimated the exporters about the various guidelines issued by the UAE authorities from time to time. 


ARABPLAST, a show for the plastics sector in the Middle East Region was held in Dubai at DWTC from 5th to 8th January. Around 82 Indian companies exhibited at the India Pavilion which was organized by the Plastics Export Promotion Council of India. Consul Economic from CGI, Dubai visited the pavilion and interacted with the Indian exhibitors.
