SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN (SPDC)

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, executes “Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children” (SPDC), for perusing undergraduate courses for the following categories:
a)  Children of Persons of Indian Origin;
b)  Children of Non-Resident of Indians;
c) Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries –children studying abroad; &
d) Children of Indian workers in ECR countries – children studying in India

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the needy children of the above categories to assist them in pursuing Under Graduate courses in Indian Universities/Institutes. Some of the features of the scheme are:

  • Under the scheme, partial financial assistance is provided by the Government of India to the extent of 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost subject to the maximum of USD 4000 per annum.
  • Monthly income of the parents should not exceed an amount equivalent to US$4000.
  • The scheme is applicable to NRIs/PIOs from 66 select countries.
  • The applicant should be in the age group of 17-21 years as on 01.10.2018
  • The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination.
  • The applicant should have secured minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades in aggregate of all the subjects.
  • Candidates availing scholarship/financial assistance/any other assistance under any other scheme sponsored by State/Central Government shall not be eligible for assistance under SPDC.
