PRESS RELEASE

  1. Consul General of India in Dubai, Mr Vipul, inaugurated India pavilion at the WETEX 2017 (Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition) today at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The India pavilion was set up by the Indian Chamber of Commerce with support of the Consulate General of India, Dubai.  A total 46 of Indian companies, having expertise in the field of water and solar energy, oil & gas, electrical fitting, lighting and luminaries, wires & cables etc., are participating in the exhibition.  Many of the Indian companies also work with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and other establishments in UAE. DEWA has also arranged a visit to DEWA Solar Park as well as DEWA Jebel Ali Power Station for the participating  Indian companies in the WETEX.
  2. India sees WETEX as a perfect platform for Indian entrepreneurs to exhibit their core competence in their specialized fields and also B2B interaction with their counterparts in the MENA region. It provides an ideal opportunity for participants to display their technologies to the exhibitors and visitors from several countries who participate in WETEX.
  3. India’s participation in WETEX 2017 is also in line with the vision and commitment of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to have sustainable and inclusive growth for all with access to clean water,  electricity and housing. India is also playing a pioneering role in renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar power.   India has made substantial progress on the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) adopted by United Nations.   India, along with France has also taken the lead in the setting up the International Solar Alliance, which is conceived as a coalition of 121 solar resource rich countries to address their special energy needs and to collaborate in this important field.
