GUIDELINES FOR INDIAN E-VISA

All foreign nationals applying for Indian e-visa are advised to make note of the following recent past changes in the Indian visa regime policy:

(i) The applications of eligible foreign nationals who applying for e-visa through the Ministry of Home Affairs’s e-visa portal (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in) are processed within 72 hours by Bureau of Immigration (BOI) and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is issued to applicants electronically on the basis of which they may travel to India.

(ii) An important requirement for entry into India upon receipt of ETA is that the passport of the traveler should have validity of at least six months from date of arrival in India and it should contain at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.

(iii) A foreign national traveling to India must travel on the passport on which he/she has applied for e-visa. Entry will be allowed on the new passport even if ETA has been issued on the old passport, but in such cases the traveler must carry the old passport on which ETA was issued.

(iv) All instructions on eligibility, requirements, etc are available in detail on the webpage www.indianvisaonline.gov.in . The webpage also guides the applicants on filling up the e-Visa forms and provides sub-links with information related to “Instructions to Applicants” and “List of Countries/Nationalities who are eligible to avail e-Visa”.
